Mason Nichols is a Reading Interventionist in Texas. Growing up in Iowa and attending college he had the opportunity to work on different military installations. As a military child himself, this population has always been close to his heart. He is thankful for the opportunity to continue to work with this population of students. As an advocate for social emotional-learning he uses diverse literature and teaches strategies to help students build empathy and self-awareness. He believes that a classroom should be an inclusive environment that allows students to be challenged and supported. He enjoys using a variety of technology tools to empower students and allow them to think creatively and outside of the box.
As an educator he believes in modeling to students a growth mindset and to always strive to continue learning. Throughout his career he has presented professional development showing ways to differentiate, engage, and integrate creativity into the classroom. Mason creates engaging lessons that support all students while challenging them to continue to deepen their knowledge and understanding.
He taught 3rd grade for several years and has since been awarded the district Teacher of the Year award and recently became a Reading Interventionist and is part of a Teacher Instructional Coaching Cadre. He has presented at ISTE several times as well as TCEA and campus professional development.
